The card room boasts of classy wooden furniture, which is quite antique in nature. Specially designed card tables with beautifully placed chairs.
These chairs are so comfortable that one can sit on these specially designed chairs sitting on it for hours without giving a back trouble. A bonfire of old European style keeps on burning at a place specially designed for it in the room.
Modern room heaters are also placed near every table to make the player comfortable in the chilly winter.
A small kitchen is there which provides full service of snacks and coffee.
Secretary of club colonel GK Chaturvedi said, “ The card room kitchen provides quality traditional snacks and light food that is irresistible. The butter toasts, and coffee are the most sought after things.”
Some people prefer to carry on their drinks on the playing table from the bar, the light sharing of jokes amidst the coloured lights, adds to the beauty of card room ambience said a club member. Wing commander Prem Ahuja is a regular visitor in the card room he prefers Bridge and Paplu in the card room games.
“It is very hypnotic, especially after the members start playing the cards in almost silent atmosphere. The crowd is mixed and the mood neighbourly. The women and men a nearly equal in number, we all are great friends between us.”
Indira Gupta playing cards on the table said , “ We are just like a family in the card room, if any player doesn't turn up for two days we get worried and reach his place to inquire about his health, we have a special bond between MB club card room members.” A retired chief secretary on the condition of anonymity playing Rummy on a the table said, “ Here everyone is quite well off in the life.
Our children are well settled we have no work to do after retirement. For passing quality time with quality people we assemble here in the card room and play cards. We become like a close knitted family because we meet daily and discuss our feelings while playing cards.”
Mrs Wig another member playing cards said, “ Here Bridge and Rummy are most sought after games, we have some brilliant bridge players amongst us, and sometimes they also participate in some bridge tournaments.”
