In an informal chat with mediapersons here at Sunbeam School in Bhagwanpur area on Saturday, the former CBI director said that STF is under complete control of state government and therefore the government could get the crime cases investigated as per its convenience.
This is not the case with CBI, as the working style of the CBI is more transparent than any other investigating agency, he added. Replying to a query, he said that CBI faced political pressure very often but still the working of CBI is very much transparent.
The former CBI chief said that CBI was transparent as the organisational set up of CBI was unique with officers from all the corners of the country. He said more recruitment’s should be made in CBI to accelerate the work of investigation.
He said that officials associated with CBI are very often tempted. He said that CBI men are often offered attractive posts of Governors and Ambassadors as a tactic to lure them. Singh expressed concern over the slow pace of discharging cases and added that there were 5,000 cases pending with the CBI.
Joginder Singh said there were many Om Prakash Chautalas across the country but CBI had its limits. He said it would take years to initiate a case against Chautala because a lot more was required to be done before starting a case. He said CBI could initiate investigations as per the directives of Supreme Court, High Court, State or Central Government.
The former CBI chief did not rule out the possibility to join politics in future. Earlier, addressing the students of Sunbeam School, Joginder Singh asked the students to first set their desired goal. He said that success became the friend of those who were committed towards their aim.
