However, crisis of funds with DCF might cripple the celebrations, which were being launched to create awareness among the consumers, said sources. If the sources were to be believed only Rs five hundred had been sanctioned for the function. Hence, the DCF officials have organised the function at the small office located at Collectorate.

Sources said, the Union Government had decided to hold a “Consumer Health and Safety” week to create awareness among the consumers about their rights. The District Consumer Forum was directed to hold functions and also to organise seminar on subject related to consumer welfare.

Besides, the DCF was also directed to involve NGOs, District Magistrate, chief medical officer, advocates, journalist and other important officials of district in the functions, so the function get maximum publicity and other support.

The DCF had been asked to release a postal stamp at district level, which is proposed on World Consumer’s Right Day from Union Government. The stamp would be released on March 17 instead of March 15 (World Consumer Right Day) due to Holi festival. The same had been conveyed through a letter to the Chief Post Master General, UP from principal secretary Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, a seminar on “consumer health and safety” to mark World Consumer’s Right Day was organised at Scholar School, Begum Purwa here on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering of consumers on the occasion members of Kendriya Upbhokata Sanrachan Parishad of Union Government Dhruv Kumar Shukla asked that to maintain good health one should avoid taking rotten fruits being sold in the market.

Shukla said that before buying anything the consumers must see the guidelines printed on the product.

He further said that state government had been requested to implement the reforms made in Upbhokta Sanrachan act in the year 2002.
