“The condition of UP was definitely such that political parties could approach the President for the imposition of Central rule. But, the Union government does not want to dismiss any elected government. The need of the hour was to ensure free and fair conduct ofthe forthcoming Assembly polls in the State for which the Centre would urge the Election Commission to ensure the necessary arrangements.”
He was reacting to a query over BSP and BJP demand for imposition of President’s rule in UP while talking to mediapersons in an informal chat here on Sunday.
Earlier, while unveiling the statue of freedom fighter and Congress MP from Varanasi Raja Ram Shastri at Shastri Nagar, Jaiswal called upon youths to follow the path set by the freedom fighters and great personalities to check the decline in politics. The life and personality of Raja Ram Shastri could be a source of inspiration to the young generation, he added.
He said the spiritual and political land of Varanasi would give a new direction to the politics of UP and the nation.
Congress MP from Varanasi Dr Rajesh Mishra announced initiating steps for the installation of the statue of late Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan in Varanasi. The statue would be unveiled on the occasion of his first death anniversary next year under the banner of Bahadur Shah Zafar Academy.
The president of Bahadur Shah Zafar Academy and senior scribe Kazim Rizvi focused on the life and personality of Raja Ram Shastri.
AICC Member, SM Sultan, office bearer of Uttar Pradesh Sainik Congress, Ram Narain Pathak and district president of Youth Congress, Dr Daya Shanker Mishra and Girish Shastri, son of late Raja Ram Shastri welcomed the chief guest.
Meanwhile, residents of Shastri Nagar handed over a memorandum to the Minister regarding the illegal possession over the ancient pond of the locality by some people by manipulating documents.
