Chautala welcomes inter-linking of rivers

The proposed inter-linking of various rivers would save the country from floods and droughts, Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala said today.

The linking of rivers would yield "encouraging results," Chautala said after laying the foundation stone of Hathin Drinking water supply scheme in Faridabad.

Haryana Government has formulated various schemes amounting to Rs 305 crore to enhance the availability of drinking water in Mewat area, he added.

The scheme inaugurated in Faridabad would cost Rs 2.12 crore and would be completed by September 25 next year.

A Rs 42 crore Renny's Well scheme had also been introduced in the area to supply drinking water, an official release quoting the Chief Minister said here.
