Chouhan had carried out the Yatra protesting the alleged discrimination by the Centre in allocation of coal for power production in the state.

The issue has become important for all political parties as they feel that it will play an important role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The campaign for the BJP on this is being led by Chouhan himself even as Congress leaders and Bharatiya Janshakti Party President Uma Bharti are busy attacking him on the matter.

Chouhan had undertaken a two-day 'Nyaya Yatra' from Bhopal to Pathakheda in Betul district from February 21.

Chouhan is alleging that the Centre had cut the allotment of coal to Madhya Pradesh because of which power generation had come down by 500 MW and people of the state plunged into a crisis.

He says that the Central Electricity Authority had recommended that Madhya Pradesh be given 17.10 lakh metric tonnes of coal but against this only 13.55 lakh metric tonnes were allotted and finally 11 lakh metric tonnes were sent to the state.
