The CLP claimed that the DAN had no moral right to continue in the office after the president of Nagaland People's Front (NPF), a major alliance partner, had charged its MLA and former finance minister K Therie with misappropriating public funds.

A memorandum submitted to Governor Shyamal Datta, signed by all the 16 Congress MLAs in the state, urged to dismiss the Neiphiu Rio government and order a thorough probe into what the CLP described as "the admitted financial mismanagement and embezzlement" of public money.

The party asserted that the present DAN Government owes an explanation to the people of Nagaland about the charges made by NPF president and Planning Minister Dr Shurhozelie against K Therie, who was dropped by Rio in June due to his "anti-party activities."

The memorandum drew the attention of the Governor to the reports published recently wherein NPF president demanded resignation of its own party MLA Therie from the state Assembly for mismanagement of financial matter of the state.
