ON THE 40th Founder’s Day celebrations of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSJMU), the delegates were anything but exuberant. The reason for their dejection was the cancellation of the proposed visit of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Due to the absence of ‘netaji’, MP and newly-made chief guest Ramgopal Yadav did not look happy on being felicitated by Sukhram Singh, chairman of the Legislative Council. The other four alumnae were felicitated by the chief guest and, interestingly, were all smiles while being honoured. However, expressions of regret of not being in the company of ‘Netaji’ were quite obvious.

The CM was likely to inaugurate the celebration function of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University and was scheduled to felicitate five alumnae of the university.

Others who were felicitated included Dr Atul Kapoor, Mukhtarul Amin and Dr Subodh Katiyar.

In the second session at least 800 students from class eighth to class 12th visited the university campus, library, faculty buildings and laboratories. Later, they attended a lecture session on the life sciences.

In the evening, a hasya kavya sammelan was organised.
