While the group led by CMPDC student union general secretary Anurag Shukla gheraoed the principal's office and locked it demanding action against culprit, the other group staged dharna opposing action against the student who assaulted his colleague.

The students lifted the gherao after assurance from Station Officer George Town to take action against the culprit.

Meanwhile another group led by CMPDC student union president Dhananjay Singh Surya continued their relay fast in support of their demand of removal of chief proctor on the issue.

It may be recalled that a student leader Dinesh Pandey was assaulted reportedly by Sandeep Yadav, a supporter of CMPDC student union president Dhananjay Singh Surya in the presence of chief proctor Dr Shashank Dwivedi at his office on Friday. A section of the CMPDC student union office-bearers went on relay fast following the chief proctor's statement of witnessing the assault by Yadav.

CMPDC principal Dr Kiran Shankar expressed ire over the protests staged by some student leaders and said, "Dr Dwivedi has been performing his duties earnestly and he can not be relieved of charge on demands of some students who are bent upon disturbing peace of the college".

"The admission process will be started very soon and a meeting of the admission committee will be held today in this regard", informed Dr Shankar.

Meanwhile students of CMPDC gheraoed the George Town police station following attack on a student by some persons near the college on Monday. The students lifted the gherao after the police registered their FIR against one Ravi Yadav for beating up Devendra Awasthi, a student of CMPDC. Ravi Yadav was reported to be a former student of CMPDC. However the college authorities denied of any such incident.
