Committee for Sabarimala pilgrimage soon
A committee will be formed soon to monitor arrangements for the forthcoming pilgrimage at Sabarimala on November 17.
Kerala Devaswom Minister G Sudhakaran on Saturday said a Co-ordination committee headed by him will be formed soon to monitor the arrangements being made for the forthcoming Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage at Sabarimala on November 17.
The MPs and MLAs from this district, Devaswom Board President and members, District Panchayat president and collectors of Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Pathanamthitta districts would be included in the Committee as members, he added.
Talking to newspersons here, he said it was decided to hold a meeting of the Coordination Committee before the commencement of the pilgrimage.
Sudhakaran said it was also proposed to constitute a high-power committee with Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, as Chairman. Achuthanandan would convene a review meeting at Pampa on November 16. The Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Health Minister PK Sreemathy, would hold such meetings at Pampa on November 7 and 8.
Sudhakaran said he himself would chair a meeting on November 9. The entire Sabarimala roads, would be repaired before October 31, he added.
He said the Government had decided to sanction a sum of Rs 43 lakh for sanitation work at Sabarimala.
