The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) legislator from Kalayat, Rampal Majra, on Saturday sought immediate removal of Palwal Congress leader Harender Pal, who had been facing two criminal cases including one of murder, from the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC), here on Saturday.
Pal recently became the member of the HPSC.
Briefing mediapersons in the context, Majra, who was accompanied by Rajender, whose son Neeraj was allegedly murdered by Pal, held that two courts of Palwal
had framed charges of murder, attempt to murder, rioting, unlawful assembly and criminal trespass against Pal.
Stating that it was a mockery of democratic system that Pal had been appointed due to his close proximity with Congress leader Karan Singh Dalal, close aide of Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
“The irony is that a person, who is facing such serious criminal cases, will now be part of the selection process for judicial magistrates,” Majra said.
Quoting from an FIR (No121 dated March 24, 2008) under Sections 148, 149, 323, 307, 452, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Majra alleged that one Mukesh, son of Ghanshyam Singh, a resident of Kanugo Mohalla in Palwal, had categorically named Pal as one of the main assailants, who had shot indiscriminately at him causing serious injuries.
Quoting another case (FIR No 114, March 31, 2009), Majra said one Mahabir, son of Puran Singh from Kanugo Mohalla, registered a case against Pal and named him as one of the accused, who fired shots in which Neeraj, son of Rajender, succumbed to injuries.
Pal moved the Punjab and Haryana high court in 2009 to get the FIRs lodged against him cancelled though his pleas were dismissed by July 30, 2010, Majra added.
A ploy to tarnish my image: Pal
When contacted, Pal rubbished the charges framed against him and said there was no truth in the allegations leveled by the INLD leaders.
“It has been a ploy of the INLD to tarnish my image,” Pal said, adding: “The Palwal police had probed both the cases twice and found no involvement of mine.”
“Even the court had found no role of mine despite the repeated filing of private complaints against me by the rival political group backed by the INLD,” Pal said and added that he had all documentary evidence to prove that he had been given clean chit by the police and courts.
“Interestingly, I would like to remind the INLD leaders that it was in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha session last year when Subhash Chaudhary, INLD legislator from Palwal, had himself told the house that law and order situation in Palwal was poor and that even Congress leader Harender Pal was facing false charges,” Pal said and termed the complaints as conspiracy against him.
