Senior Congress leader Madan Lal Sharma has urged the Centre to devise a package covering insurance to life, property, cattle and crop of the inhabitants of border areas, apart from providing alternate shelters at safer places and special recruitment.

Addressing a series of public meetings in Akhnoor constituency, Sharma said border inhabitants had been bearing double brunt - of border fury by Pakistan and floods - and demanded their proper rehabilitation.

Sharma lauded the work done by Akhnoor MLA Sham Lal Sharma for the development of Akhnoor and termed Akhnoor as one of the model constituency of the state.
