The Congress today released its final list of candidates for the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Sikkim, fielding 12 first timers including a woman.

Releasing the list at a press conference here, Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee President and former chief minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari said that preference were given to the first timers as they were the need of the hour.
"We need young and motivated people to bring the state out of the cesspool of corruption it has been floundering in for the last 10 years of the SDF rule", he said.
Asked about his party's poll prospects, Bhandari said the Chamling Government was on its way out and the Congress was sure to be the party in power after the elections.
As per the list, Bhandari is contesting from Central Peldam and Gangtok, state Congress' Working President Ashok Kumar Subba from Soring and state unit Congress General Secretary Biraj Adhikari from the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state.
Sikkim goes to simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the last phase of elections on May 10.
