Congress revamps working committee

The changes come ahead of the party's plenary session in Hyderabad later in January.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday reconstituted the Congress Working Committee, ahead of the party's plenary session in Hyderabad later in January.

Besides Sonia, the CWC includes: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, Arjun Singh, Ashok Gehlot, Digvijay Singh, G Venkatswamy, Janardhan Dwivedi, Mohsina Kidwai, Mukul Wasnik, BK Hari Prasad, Margaret Alva, Motilal Vora, Pranab Mukherjee, Saifuddin Soz, Shivraj Patil, V Narayanasamy and Urmila Singh.

There are 14 permanent invitees. They include Karan Singh, Ajit Jogi, CK Jaffer Sharief, ABA Ghani Khan Choudhary and Begum Noor Bano.

Gandhi also appointed eight General Secretaries and 32 Secretaries, while retaining Vora as Treasurer and Patel as her political Secretary.

The General secretaries are:

Ambika Soni, Margaret Alva, Ashok Gehlot, Digvijay Singh, Mukul Wasnik, Janardana Dwivedi, B K Hari Prasad and V Narayanasamy.
