UPCC chief spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh said the recent statements of Amar Singh bore testimony to the fact that he was doing so to gain cheap popularity. Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav would not be able to improve performance of his party in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections even with the support of the item boy.

The Samajwadi Party leaders should now realise that the Congress president Sonia Gandhi was a prominent figure not only in India but also all over the world, he said adding Sonia and other members of Gandhi family were known for the sacrifice they have made.

On the other hand the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh were known for being in power and owning bungalows and cars, he said.

Instead of speaking over the issue of Income Tax notices to the matinee idol Amitabh Bachchan, the Samajwadi Party leaders should give right advise to the Bachchan family, he said. The SP-led government had exempted at least 14 movies starring the Bachchan family from entertainment tax, he said.
