STATE CONGRESS president Salman Khurshid said here on Wednesday that the youths would be given 250 tickets in the coming assembly election.
He made this announcement at a two- day Yuva Samvad Shivir, to pacify the party activists who were angry with the lack of youth representation in the party. Addressing the gathering, Khurshid said that in the ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections, 250 party tickets would be given to youths. “The party will try to win these seats by handing over the responsibility to Youth Congress activists,” Khurshid said.
Youth Congress national president Ashok Tavar demanded that Rahul Gandhi should be included the state working committee of the party and given an important portfolio.
“The presence of Rahul Gandhi will give the much-needed boost to the morale of Youth Congress activists in the state,” Tavar said.
Talking to the Hindustan Times general secretary of the State Youth Congress Hari Shanker Tewari said, “The Youth Congress activists would ensure the victory of Congress Party in the Vidhan Sabha elections.” The Congress was the only party that could free the masses from the misrule of the present and previous state governments, Tewari said.
