Constable booked for rape, sexual harassment in Ghaziabad

An FIR was lodged today against a suspended constable posted at the Bhojpur police station in Ghaziabad on charges of rape and sexual harassment, police said.

The case was registered against constable Arun Sehgal at the Modinagar police station on the complaint of a girl, who had accused him of maintaining a physical relationship with her on the pretence of marrying her.

In her complaint, the girl had also alleged that Sehgal took from her gold ornaments worth thousands of rupees in the name of freeing some ancestral mortgaged land, but later refused to marry her.

SSP Prashant Kumar said that a probe into the complaints has been ordered and a hunt is on to nab the culprit, who is absconding ever since his suspension on April 10.
