Cops shielding accused!
Whether it is the much talked about Jessica Lal murder case or the slaying of an MLA like Raju Pal, everybody knows that when cops are wanting to help an accused either for money or under great pressure they end up botching the most heinous of crimes.
And this exactly appears to be happening in the much touted murder case of Amrendra Pandey, trade union leader of Triveni Sheet Glass Works here .
Late last night cops are reported to have picked up two of the three assassins who had pumped bullets into Pandey's body. Instead of being taken to Ghurpur police station they were whisked away to another police station in the rural area and interrogated.
Sources said, what was being apprehended has happened. The duo reportedly confessed the killing. But what happened next was more shocking.
If sources are correct, the two accused told cops that they had carried out the killing allegedly at the behest of the GM of the factory and were paid a sum of Rs 60,000 to carry out the job. They were also promised that the lucrative loading and unloading contract at the factory would be given to them.
Sources said, between 24-40 trucks are loaded and unloaded at the factory everyday and the factory management paid approximately Rs 400 for each loading and unloading operation.
Under whose pressure cops were working could not be known but one thing is reported to have taken shape after the above confession.
The duo were reportedly told by the cops to speak only what they were told.
Now when it comes to making confessional statement the two accused have been tutored to say that they killed Pandey because he was a barrier between them (accused) and the workers. The accused are also being projected as local leaders by the police.
When asked a senior police officer wishing anonymity denied that the accused were pressurised to speak what police had told them.
Another officer went to the extent of saying that no arrest had taken place in this case till now.
While the third officer denied allegations that police were trying to protect the accused named in the FIR.
Immensely popular amid his colleagues and co-workers Pandey, it may be recalled, fell to the assassins' bullets the other day at the Triveni Sheet Glass factory gate in Ghurpur while he was returning home on his bicycle after purchasing vegetables.
Angry workers who could not tolerate this extreme injustice to their leader went berserk and resorted to violence.
Later in the evening Pandey's kin lodged an FIR against the MD JK Agrawal, GM CP Yadav, and administrative officer KK Gupta alleging their hand in this murder.
Though the MD went into hiding the other two were arrested. The MD's whereabouts were not known after he left his house with his family leaving a guard to look after the house.
