Correct errors in voters’ list soon
The district administration has prepared a draft schedule for the proposed intensive revision of electoral rolls for Badshahpur and Gurgaon assembly constituencies.
The district administration has prepared a draft schedule for the proposed intensive revision of electoral rolls for Badshahpur and Gurgaon assembly constituencies. The tentative schedule has been sent to the central Election Commission (EC) for approval.
After getting the EC’s nod, the process of intensive revision of rolls may start from July 10. With this, those whose names are missing on the voters' list will have an opportunity to get their names mentioned on the list.
Gurgaon deputy commissioner (DC) PC Meena on Tuesday called a meeting of representatives of political parties and residents' welfare associations (RWAs), along with the concerned officers, for preparing the draft schedule.
“As per the proposal, the process of intensive revision will start from July 10 and end on January 5, 2012,” he said.
The DC sought cooperation from the RWAs and political parties in preparing error-free electoral rolls.
“The revision of electoral rolls is normally conducted once in 10 years. But the EC wants to take Gurgaon as a model constituency. Every citizen of India is duty-bound to provide correct information to booth level officers,” Meena said.
Residents have welcomed the move. "Duplication and errors are main problems. Some concrete action should be taken," said JN Mangla, a resident of Civil Lines.
