Apropos of the report UK attack linked to science hub strike? (July 10), Indians had the enviable record of not being part of any global terrorist strike until the failed attack on Glasgow airport shattered this. That even doctors and engineers are getting sucked into terrorism should be a matter of concern. The solution lies in taking all acts of terror seriously. We should ensure that our places of worship are not misused. And our borders should be sealed so that the movement of men, ammunition, drugs and fake currencies is curbed.
The trend of educated Muslim youth becoming terrorists is very disturbing. Instead of doing good for the community and the nation, they are tarnishing the entire community by resorting to such acts in the name of religion. Muslim society and the parents of educated Muslim youth will have to play an important role in indoctrinating an ideology of brotherhood before it is too late.

The government’s repeated statement that ‘terrorism has no religion’ is misleading. Such statements not only expose the government’s soft attitude towards terrorism, but also encourages misguided youth to jump into the fray. The government must take action against those associated with such nefarious activities.
