This year, for the first time in the history of LIFW, there will be six shows in a single day and also a four-designer show in order to accommodate the increasing demand from designers for participation in this prestigious event.

The initial three days will have five shows each, with the first starting at 12 noon, while the next four days will have six shows each, with an additional show at 10 am. LIFW 2005 opens with a show by Delhi-based designer Ritu Kumar at 12 noon on April 20th. The Lakme Grand Finale, unveiling the title sponsor's Fashion Statement for the year through leading designers Varun Bahl and Monisha Jaisingh, will mark the culmination of this prestigious seven-day event.
LIFW 2005 will witness 61 designers from across the country showcasing their Prêt-a-Porter (ready-to-wear) or diffusion (a line between ready-to-wear and couture) collections, through designer shows or stalls during the seven days of frenzied business activity. The ramp shows are bifurcated into Solo, 2-Designer, 3-designer, and 4-designer shows and a total of 39 shows are scheduled through the week. Apart from the Lakme Grand Finale, this would also include a show from Samsung, the Associate Sponsor for LIFW 2005 and one from the winner of Lakme Fashion House, the reality television programme.
These shows will be interspersed with interactive seminars related to the 'Business of Fashion' to be organised by FDCI. The event will also witness make-up, style trends and other fashion workshops by Lakme. The topics for the Lakme workshops include Lakme Pepper Mint, Lakme Matteffect, Lakme Sun Expert, and Lakme Hair Next.
