When on June 26 Munna returned to Hasena from Gwalior, people ran for safer places considering that Munna’s ghost was roaming in the village. Munna (43) was declared ‘dead’ by none other than his wife Vimla with whom he married in 1979 and they have two sons— Vijay (20) and Ajay (18).

When Munna lost all hope to declare himself alive officially, he narrated his woes to DIG, Kanpur zone Daljit Chowdhary on Tuesday. Taking cognizance of the conspiracy with Munna, the DIG has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Chowdhary said an inquiry into the ‘fake’ declaration of Munna’s death would be conducted and whosoever was found guilty would be punished.

Telling his enigmatic death, Yadav said, “I could not get any work here in the city and went to Nagpur in search of job before Holi and got work there at a gaushala on June 23. I even called up my nephew in Hasena. After listening to my voice and name, my nephew disconnected the phone.”

He again called up his sister Chanda, who also lives in the same village along with her husband Gulab Singh Yadav. He said, “It took me five times on telephone to convince my sister that I was alive and when on June 26 I returned to my village from MP, I got the virtual shock of my life that my wife along with my sons had left for her parents’ house at Sagar in MP.”

Not only that, before leaving for Sagar, she had even sold off his valuables and property. Now, Munna has no clue about his wife and sons, as he is more concerned to prove officially that he is alive.

Behind the fake declaration of Munna’s death there is an immaculate ploy by Vimla and her accomplices. Chanda said on June 22 Vimla came to her house sobbing and said Munna was killed in an accident and asked Gulab Singh to go to Sagar to identify his body, as she was called by the Punjab police that on the basis of the address recovered from the Munna’s possession, his body was sent to Sagar in MP and if it was not identified for with in a couple of days then it would be cremated as ‘unclaimed’ body.

Interestingly, Gulab went there and recognised that the body was of Munna’s. And later entire village and relatives of Munna believed that he was dead. But when he turned up, a panic like situation created in the village.

What could be worse that in every government record Munna’s name has been registered as ‘dead’. Now, the only dream before him is to prove himself alive. Now, he hates his wife and sons, who are not slightly bothered to check weather he is alive or dead?
