Of the issues that did not see much a change, or maybe failed to deliver as fast as the general expectations were, Indo-Pak relations dominated the year. While the NDA government had already initiated a number of steps, the UPA administration was expected to take it further. Evidence of significant progress, and a few distinctly rhetorical statements, disturbed.

The Maharashtra elections, too left one with a sense of disappointment. Despite the perceived non-performance of the incumbent government, they were elected back in the face of a disunited opposition.

And the globally significant US polls saw the return of Bush, and the global resentment will have to wait for at least four more years to see the exit of Bush and his policies.
