"National Highway number 24 will remain closed for heavy vehicles for six days in the wake of the fair being organised in Gajraula on the occasion of Kartik Purnima," District Magistrate Anil Garg said.

He added that owners of light vehicles have been also advised not to take the route during this period.

This year, around 25 lakh pilgrims are expected to visit the fair on Kartik Purnima.

The local administration said vehicles moving from Lucknow towards Delhi will be diverted from Fareedpur towards Bukhara, Bhamaura and Badaun.
