In a statement issued here, he said that the political parties demanded votes in the name of social reformer Mahatma Phule, Shau Maharaj and Babasaheb Ambedkar. So the chief minister should be chosen from the OBC community.

He said social reformers had struggled for the upliftment of the backward community in the state. He alleged that political leaders made hollow slogans for the betterment of the OBC and did nothing for them.

He asked if the chief ministers could be made from the OBC community in Bihar, UP and Gujarat, why could one not be made in progressive state like Maharashtra.

Ansari warned that if the political parties neglect the issue of the OBC community, he would launch agitation in the state.
