Delhi High Court on Friday directed MCD Commissioner AK Nigam to be present on August 31 to apprise the court on the execution of the directions on demolitions of unauthorised constructions in the Capital.

Expressing anguish over the ongoing illegal constructions, a division bench of acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rekha Sharma said the MCD Commissioner had to take action and make the Capital a world class city.
A Committee comprising former Director Generals of Police RS Gupta and BL Vohra and constituted by the High Court, submitted its report before the court asking for directions to the MCD for procurement of modern equipment and empowerment of the task force to receive complaint and carry out demolitions.
