The 59 Pakistanis who arrived at Islamabad airport on Thursday after being deported from the US, said they were picked up and jailed without any evidence following the 9/11 terrorist strikes, according to The News.

The men alleged they were tortured following a drive against Pakistanis by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other law enforcement agencies.

An official of the Pakistani embassy in Washington who accompanied the group said they had been detained in various jails under various charges and some of them were under-trials.

The men said they were treated as criminals by Pakistani agencies upon arrival here and detained at the airport for over two and a half hours. They were questioned and interrogated by different agencies for more than three hours before being allowed to go home.

Foreign office officials said another batch of deported Pakistanis was expected to arrive later, The News reported.
