Depression in Bay of Bengal might cause cyclonic storm: MeT

Yesterday's deep depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal, which today moved West wards and lay centered about 1100 km Southeast of Visakhapatnam, would intensify further into a cyclonic storm, which may subsequently become a severe cyclonic storm, the Metrology department warned today.

Yesterday's deep depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal, which today moved West wards and lay centered about 1100 km Southeast of Visakhapatnam, would intensify further into a cyclonic storm, which may subsequently become a severe cyclonic storm, the Metrology department warned today.

The system would move in a Westnorth Westerly direction and cross north Tamilnadu and South Andhra coast between Puducherry and Nellore close to Chennai by Sunday evening or night, it said.

Rain occurred at a few places over Rayalaseema, isolated rain fall over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana this morning.

The death toll in recent cyclone stood at 35 according, to official information. The weather Forecast for tomorrow indicate that moderate to heavy rains or thundershowers would occur at many places over the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Nellore and Praakasam of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur at a few places over Rayalaseema and in the remaining districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rain or thundershowers would occur over Telangana, the MeT said.
