Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who had earlier faced stiff opposition from within his party JD-S to an alliance with BJP in Karnataka, has expressed willingness for an issue-based coordination with the NDA at the Centre.
In an interview to RSS mouthpiece ‘Organiser’, he also stated that he was ready to extend cooperation to any political party, even the BJP, for future assembly or Lok Sabha elections if it acknowledged the JD-S’ programme aimed at protecting farmers, minorities and the rural sector.
"The policies and programmes adopted by my party in 1999 shall be the basis of my extending cooperation. However, on the question of coordination, I have no reservation, depending on the nature of issues," he said.
He was asked whether he planned to be a part of NDA or wanted any floor coordination with NDA in Parliament. Gowda, who was once staunchly opposed to his party’s alliance with BJP, now expressed confidence that the partnership in Karnataka government would last the full term.
