Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Mahanagar president of Samajwadi Party Rakesh Jain claimed that UP was marching on the path of development in the present SP rule and people would extend their support to this development-oriented party.
He said that as part of their election preparations, Mahanagar Samajwadi Party would organise four workers’ conventions in different assembly constituencies falling in Varanasi from May 9 to 21. The main objective of these conventions is to motivate grassroots level workers to join the election campaign and ensure defeat of opposition parties.
Rakesh Jain, also a trader leader, claimed that it was for the first time that developmental work on a large scale was being carried out in UP after Independence. He said that the State government was focussing on infrastructural facilities such as roads, water and power etc so that the common people might have better living conditions.
To a query, Jain said that efforts were being made to ensure smooth power supply. He announced that discussion on this issue was in the final stage and efforts would be made to get Varanasi exempted from night rostering.
