Devotees throng APP Shambu temple on Maha Shivaratri

Maha Shivaratri was celebrated with great enthusiasm here on Monday. People thronged the ancient Lord Shiva temple on the bank of Devika river. Thousands of devotees took holy dip in the Devika and later paid obeisance at the Shiva temple.

All temples were decorated on the occasion in the city. The devotees offered milk and water on the Shivlingam. Free langars were also arranged on the occasion.

According to APP Shambu temple priest Madan Lal, festival of Maha Shivaratri has tremendous significance in Hinduism.
The Hindus consider it extremely auspicious to worship Lord Shiva on Shivaratri as it is believed that His worship with devotion and sincerity absolves a devotee of his past sins.

Meanwhile, the police had made elaborate security arrangements to meet any untoward incident.
