Discoms to spend R280 cr to strengthen transmission

The power distribution companies will spend Rs 280 crore to strengthen transmission and distribution system in the district. The power utilities would build nine substations and augment the capacity of five substations, a spokesperson for the discoms said on Friday.

The power utilities would build nine substations and augment the capacity of five substations, a spokesperson for the discoms said on Friday. It is planned to construction a 220-kilovatt (KV) substation at Masudpur village, a 132-KV substation at Barsi and seven substations of 33-KV capacity each Mirchpur, Bithmara, Chaudharywas, Kheri Lohachab, Jamalpur and Sector 14 of the city.

The capacity of 132-KV substation, Poly Steel Hisar, and 33-KV substations at Barwala, Mundhal, Koth and Shyahrwa is being augmented. The construction of 220-KV substation at Masudpur was nearing completion and likely to be commissioned soon, the spokesperson said.

The spokesman said the plan includes installing 2,000 distribution transformers. In addition, 200 old transformers would be replaced with new ones of higher capacity. The Haryana government will add 955-km-long power distribution lines to the dense distribution network.

Meanwhile, The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has completed the construction of its two substations of 33-KV level each at Chander Khurd and Buwan villages in Fatehabad district for Rs 5 crore.
