Released in 1989, Raakh was Aamir's second film after Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Aamir also pointed out that the multiplexes might buy into the film in order to try and score a point over him and the unity of the producers.

The film is being re-released by Palador Pictures and has been digitally re-mastered to suit contemporary viewing standards.
