A number of massive ‘pandals’ are being erected for Durga Puja celebrations across the district. Artists are engaged in giving the final shape to idols of Goddess Durga and demon king Mahishasur round the clock at various places in the city.
Devotees will witness some exquisite idols of Goddess Durga and Mahishasur made from wax, betel-nut and purva (earthen pot) etc. made in Bangla style and oriental style.
These idols will also be seen giving the message of world peace. Several artisans, mostly from West Bengal, are engaged in giving the final touch to the idols.
A grand pandal is also being erected at Madhuban Lawn in Banaras Hindu University for Durga Puja celebrations.
In a bid to ensure peaceful Durga Puja, the police, district administration and the fire department, have issued necessary instructions to the organisers.
The list of some sensitive puja pandals have also been prepared by the cops.
A number of devotees visit the puja pandals from Saptami to Vijaya Dashmi to pay their obeisance every year.
Keeping in view the March 7 terror strike at Sankat Mochan temple and Cantonment Railway Station in the city this year, the organisers have been asked to prepare the list of volunteers who could keep a close vigil on suspicious looking persons and object etc. to foil any untoward incident.
A meeting of organisers and the administration was held on Sunday to ensure a peaceful festival. While the administration laid emphasis over security arrangement, the organisers expressed grave concern over the poor state of roads across the district.
Several prominent roads leading from Jagatganj-Andhara Pul, Lahurabeer-Chetganj, Ravindrapuri, Panchakroshi Road are in a shambles, which have become a cause of concern for the organisers.
