Election official suspended after being found drunk

A panchayat poll presiding officer has been suspended for allegedly reporting on duty after consuming alcohol at Salarpur polling station in Muzaffarnagar, officials said on Tuesday.

Muzaffarnagar, Oct 26 (PTI) A panchayat poll presiding officer has been suspended for allegedly reporting on duty after consuming alcohol at Salarpur polling station in Muzaffarnagar, officials said on Tuesday.

Satendra Kumar was suspended on Monday after a medical test confirmed the presence of alcohol in his blood, they said.

In another incident, a police constable was found inebriated state in Shamli town during duty hours, they said.

Meanwhile, one person died after consuming liquor allegedly distributed by a poll candidate at Ratanpuri village here yesterday, they added.
