According to contactmusic.com, John entered into a civil partnership with his long-term love David Furnish in December. He acknowledged that his recent working style had not been very good.

He says: "It is frustrating that I can't get there more often. I haven't been as helpful as I could be. But when the show is in New York, I'll be on the East Coast working in Atlanta, so I'll be popping in and out. Any excuse to come to New York!"
