During the inspection of Soraon community health centre on Monday, chief medical officer Dr Shantimal Singhavi found that senior medical officer Dr GC Patel was absent. The patients were waiting for the doctor and the centre was managed by the paramedical staff.

Similarly, Dr AN Verma was also found absent at Mauaima primary health centre. The CMO, upset over violating his orders of remaining at the rural health centres during the festival period, directed to cut one day's salary of Dr GC Patel and Dr AN Verma.

"The salary of Dr Patel and Dr Verma will be released only with the approval of CMO Dr Shantimal Singhavi," said Dr VK Mishra, who was also present during the inspection.

The CMO also conducted inspection of rural health centres in Gangapaar on Sunday.

During the inspection of primary health centres at Dhanupur, Phulpur and Pratappur Dr Singhavi found that not even a single emergency medical officer (EMOs) was present at the centres to manage serious and emergency patients.

The EMO was also found absent at Handia community health centre. All these centres were managed by the pharmacists and other paramedical staff.

The district health department office staff informed that the CMO has issued notices to all the medical officers found absent at the CHCs and PHCs and has also ordered to cut their salary.

"They have also been asked to give their written explanation for remaining on leave," said the staff.
