Hip hop superstar Eminem has beat off competition from pop diva Lady Gaga to become the most popular living person on Facebook, with almost 29 million 'likes'.

According to website Famecount, the 33-year-old rapper has almost 29 million 'likes' on the social networking site.

Gaga, who briefly held the title after unseating US President Barack Obama, is less than a million behind him, reported Daily Express.

Only the late'King of Pop' Michael Jackson has more Facebook followers, with just over 29 million.

Famecount bosses note that Eminem's Facebook fanbase is greater than the population of Luxembourg.

However, Gaga is still the queen of Twitter - she has 8.4 million followers on the micro-blogging site.
