England middle order bat Kevin Pietersen hoped that things will change for his team in the next two games but remanied doubtful about its performance.
"The Indian tour was a challenging tour where all the players needed to reassure themselves that they can fight it out in the heat and against the guile of the Indian spinners," Pietersen said.
"I would not call it an opportunity lost for the youngsters. I can't speak for all, but it has been a learning curve and some of the goals that we have set have been fulfilled and some have not," he added.
"Personally I am disappointed at the way we have played. But it has been a great challenge and the players needed to get down from every flight and tell themselves that they can fight it out," he said.
Asked to comment on the poor performance of the ODI side, he said, "The team has been changed due to injuries. It's a long and grueling tour, but the one day side have not been very consistent."
Talking about his personal form, he said, "I am not too happy with the way I have played. I have got four to five fifties and but not converted them. The players have chucked away their wickets."
Pietersen said the much talked about heat was not the reason behind his team's poor show.
"The heat is a factor but we should have got used to it by now. Except for Guwahati, everywhere it has been hot. Its no different here," he said.
Then with a smile, he said, "Its going to be a nice warm day for cricket tomorrow."
About the team composition and whether Andrew Flintoff would be rested, he said, "The team meeting will take place in the evening and every thing will be decided after that. Hopefully, after seeing the pitch tomorrow the full team will be announced."
On whether England were giving too much attention to Tests and ignoring ODIs he said, "It’s a difficult question. I don’t think so.
