They took the decision on the concluding day of a five-day convention at Jungle Matadeen under Shahpur police station.
Annoyed with the insensitive attitude of politicians, residents of Gorakhpur had elected eunuch Asha Devi as mayor over five years ago.
But, the situation seems to have changed now and even the community feels that politics is not its cup of tea. Gulabi from Ayodhya said even full-time politicians failed to check corruption, adding, “How can we stem the rot.” She said, “We believe in harmony and never seek to divide society.” Eunuchs also expressed concern over increasing disputes among themselves. They have already decided to organise an international convention in the city next year. Prema was nominated coordinator of the international convention. Senior members intervened to resolve five dozen disputes.
Prema said participants had come from Delhi, Meerut, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Ayodhya, Jodhpur, Bhopal and other places had come for the convention. Beetle leaf sellers did brisk business at grand pandals set up for the occasion. Former Mayor Asha Devi, Barkha and Prema, along with others, thanked the guests. They also paid tribute to their guru Majnu.
