For the first time, the university has issued code numbers and identity cards to the evaluators so that unscrupulous persons may not enter into the hall to seek favours.

This system has been introduced to check the interference of outsiders in the evaluation process. Earlier, several mediators used to collect money from the students and even from their parents on the pretext that they would ensure desired marks for them in each subject.

Sensing the fishy deals, the university vice-chancellor took several stringent measures during the past years to check the menace. His efforts succeeded well to curb the wrong practices. This time still more strict rules were introduced to eliminate the ‘mediators’ duping the student.

Meanwhile, a large number of teachers who had not been made the evaluators, were present outside the gate of the central hall in the hope that they might be given a chance if the appointed evaluator failed to arrive for any reason. But they were told that none of the evaluators were absent.

However, the evaluation work in the middle of the examination has hit the invigilation work at the examination centers. The colleges, with meager staff, faced acute crisis of invigilators as most of the teachers of the college managed to get evaluation assignments. As the evaluation work was more paying than the invigilation duty, where they get only rupees fifty for a shift of three hours, they prefer to take evaluation work.

Registrar of the Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) Mahesh Chandra said answer books of the students of BA classes would be evaluated in the first phase and no evaluator would be allowed to evaluate more than sixty answer books in a day. Invigilator would be paid remuneration of rupee ten for each answer book.

Most of the university teachers made their best efforts to get a chance to evaluate the answer books, but only those who fulfilled the requisite conditions were given the chance of evaluation. But amidst several teacher candidates, who fulfilled the qualification for being an evaluator, only those got the lucrative offer who had been in the good books of the university authorities.
