?Excess? students: V-C sounds warning

Ed than the allocated seats, vice-chancellor of DDU Gorakhpur University Prof Arun Kumar said that university would not allow the excess students to appear in B. Ed examination scheduled to start from June 6.
Prof Kumar convened a meeting of principals and managers of the affiliated degree colleges and asked them to take admission of students according to the number of seats allocated to their colleges.
He said the affiliation would be cancelled if the colleges would fail to implement the directives.
Around half-a-dozen degree colleges have taken more admission in B Ed classes against the number of seats allocated to them. These admissions have been taken under the self-financed courses by the management and principal of the degree colleges.
Sources said under the self-finance courses, admission was given without the entrance test. Moreover, the management of these colleges does not take any written test of the students at school-level before providing them admission in B Ed. According to sources the five colleges that have been identified for taking excess admission includes Chaudhary Charan Singh Degree College, Bardpur, Siddharth Nagar and Prabhawati Degree College, Khalilabad. The V-C has directed principals of these colleges to take the entrance examination and give the admission through proper channel.
Meanwhile, the students’ leaders of DDU Gorakhpur University had handed over a memorandum to the V-C. They were shouting slogans against the university authorities for allocating admission cards and verification forms to the students.
Former vice-president of the University students union Dr Mahendra Rai stopped the University jeep carrying 150 admission cards and answer sheets allotted to the Prabhawati Degree College, Khalilabad where only 100 seats were allocated by the university authorities.
