On March 17, when Nitin and Chetna Manglik were away to a friend’s place, six masked men broke into their house at Exclusive Floors, DLF City Phase 5. At that time Indrani, mother of Nitin was alone with her grandchildren. The gang tied the family, ransacked the house and took away jewellery and Rs 5 lakh cash.

The arrested robber has been identified as Akram who hails from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. He has confessed to the crime after interrogation, the police said. The city police have conducted raids to nab the other culprits. The main accused was staying in a slum at Indira Gandhi camp near Friends Colony.

“Akram is married to a Bangladeshi woman who also had a role in the robbery. We are conducting raids and more arrests would be made in this regard,” said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP crime.

“We also suspect the role of insiders as the robbers were aware of the movements of family members and items kept in the house,” added DCP Dayal.
