ONE OF the two criminals, who had demanded extortion money from two prominent city doctors, is related to a doctor, who has a nursing home in the city. It was probably through this doctor that the criminal managed to get the telephone numbers of the doctors and used the same to demand extortion money. It is also possible that the relative doctor had unintentionally disclosed certain other informations about the two doctors to the criminal.

"We are looking into all aspects. The criminals will either be nabbed or liquidated in encounter with the police.
We are after them," CO Rajeshwar Singh told HT Live. Two days ago the medical fraternity was rattled following the complaint by the two doctors who were threatened with dire consequences in case they failed to cough up the money.
Doctors held a meeting and demanded police intervention and arrest of the criminals. What seems to have struck the doctors most is the fact that there appears to be no sobering effect on the criminals despite the drive launched against criminals and elimination of six of them by the police.
It was not Sujit Pandey, the outlaw carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head who had demanded extortion money from the doctors but an ordinary criminal, who is on the run with his associate. The criminals had used the name of Sujit Pandey to save themselves. But, they have been identified, said the CO.
Sujit Pandey was instrumental in the kidnapping of Dr Kartikey Sharma. He had later surrendered in a Varanasi court after cops started gunning for him, said the CO.
Meanwhile, doctor Jitendra Jain and his colleague, who doesn't wish to be named, told HT Live that they had been provided security by the police but they appeared apprehensive as to how long the same would be provided to them.
It may be mentioned that a few months ago, a very prominent doctor of the city, who holds an important position in the AMA was the target of some big criminals, who wanted to kidnap him for ransom. The doctor, who is said to be running a flourishing nursing home, was cautioned by the cops to be alert.
It was probably because the cops had somehow managed to know the plan of the kidnappers and the doctor is still safe.
On the other hand, the Allahabad Medical Association has decided to take out a protest march from their office on Stanley Road and assemble at the Subhash Crossing in Civil Lines on May 27 in protest against the threat and failure to arrest criminals.
This was decided at a meeting of the association on Wednesday night.
