Final electoral rolls published in UP

There are nearly 31.11 lakh deletions and 48.92 lakh additions of names in the final electoral rolls, reports Umesh Raghuvanshi.

Final electoral rolls for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh were published on Monday.

There are nearly 31.11 lakh deletions and 48.92 lakh additions of names in the final electoral rolls, said Chief Election Officer Anuj Bishnoi.

Now, there would be 11.45 crore voters in Uttar Pradesh, he said, adding that the exercise of publication of electoral rolls had been completed in all the 70 districts.

Besides the 31.11 lakh deletions made now, about 21 lakh names had been deleted in draft electoral rolls earlier, he said, adding that the process of addition and deletion of names would however continue till coming Vidhan Sabha polls.

Bishnoi said that 58.58 lakh requests on Form No 6 were received. Out of them, 46.17 lakh requests have been accepted, he said, adding that nearly 2.75 lakh names were added suo motto.

At the same time 7.86 lakh requests were made for deletion of names. Out of them, 5.7 lakh requests were accepted, he said, adding that 25.41 lakh names have been deleted suo motto. At the same time, the voter's list in Urdu has also been published for 130 constituencies in 31 districts, said Bishnoi.

Bishnoi said the distribution of photo identity cards would also be expedited. This would continue till Vidhan Sabha polls, he said.
