Vinod, introducing himself as the representative of BSP MP from Azamgarh and the Branch Manager of a nationalised bank, allegedly made a threat call to BSNL Executive Engineer NP Singh on Monday, asking him to give contracts to a firm owned by his brother-in-law or face the consequences.
The accused also asked Singh to think of the gruesome killing of Auraiya PWD engineer MK Gupta and not to ignore the call.
An investigation was launched into the incident on Thursday on the basis of the FIR lodged by the Engineer and efforts are on to arrest the accused, SSP Vijay Prakash said.
