Fire at petrol pump

PANIC AND chaos prevailed in Mehmoorganj area in Varanasi on Saturday afternoon when fire broke out at a petrol pump in thes area. Several vehicles were waiting at at the filling station for petrol when the fire broke out in one of the automatic refilling machines. Chaos prevailed in the area and panicky customers started fleeing from the filling station. However, without losing their cool, employees of the gas station started extinguishing the fire, In the meantime, the fire spread to the second automatic refilling machine.

Several vehicles were waiting at at the filling station for petrol when the fire broke out in one of the automatic refilling machines. Chaos prevailed in the area and panicky customers started fleeing from the filling station.

However, without losing their cool, employees of the gas station started extinguishing the fire, In the meantime, the fire spread to the second automatic refilling machine.

In a short while, fire tenders arrived on the spot and doused the fire. One refilling machine was completely burnt out whereas the other one was partially burnt.

Sources said the incident could have turned into a major tragedy only if the fire had spread to the underground petrol tanks.

The reason of the fire could not be established. There was no report of any injury.
