Five City lensmen to get national award

FIVE PHOTOGRAPHERS of the City who submitted their photographs for the 18th National Photo Contest on theme ?Life and Water? organised by the Ministry of Information of Broadcasting, Government of India, have been selected for various prizes to be awarded in New Delhi on either March 28 or 29.

FIVE PHOTOGRAPHERS of the City who submitted their photographs for the 18th National Photo Contest on theme ‘Life and Water’ organised by the Ministry of Information of Broadcasting, Government of India, have been selected for various prizes to be awarded in New Delhi on either March 28 or 29.

In the black & white section, Praveen Rawat has bagged the first prize, which carries a cash component of Rs 20,000. Hemshankar Pathak will be awarded the third prize, which carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000. In the colour section, Mahendra Rathore will be awarded the third prize.

Akhil Hardiya and Prataprao Shinde will be awarded consolation prizes, which carry cash a prize of Rs 2000 each. In colour section, photograph titled ‘Water Curtain’ has been selected for the third prize.

Photograph titled ‘Ancient Capital Mandu’ has been selected for the third prize in black & white section and photographs titled ‘Solo Flight’ and ‘Ready to Bath’ have been selected for consolation prizes in black & white section. Photograph titled ‘Our Flights’ has been selected for consolation prize in colour section.

In all, 2018 pictures were received for the contest. A four-member jury comprising Chitrangada Sharma, D Krishnan, S N Sinha and Debatosh Sengupta selected 133 photographs for the exhibition in addition to the awards.

All these photographers were advised to report to Photographic Officer Sanjiv Misra at Photo Division, Soochna Bhawan, New Delhi, at 10 am on March 28, 2006, and complete the required formalities.

They will be informed about the exact time and venue of prize distribution ceremony when they report to the Photographic Officer. Photographers have to submit the original negative or the first-generated digital image of the photograph as per the condition of the Photo Contest to the authority concerned.
