Five people were killed and three injured when the car in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck on the Khatima-Panipat highway in Muzaffarnagar Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident took place when the victims, all in the age group of 22-26 years, were on their way to Haridwar from Rivadi in Haryana.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital, police said, adding that the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
