Five killed in road mishap

FIVE PEOPLE died and 10 others were injured when the jeep they were travelling in collided head-on with a tanker near village Bhapel on Sagar-Bhopal highway, 10 km from district headquarters under the Motinagar police station on late Saturday evening.

According to CSP D R Teniwar, the jeep coming from Rahatgarh to Sagar collided with an oil tanker heading towards Bhopal at 10.30 pm. Five persons died on the spot, including one child and woman. One injured has been referred to Bhopal due to serious injuries.

The deceased were identified as jeep driver Shivraj Ahirwar, alias Bhure, Bhagwat Ahirwar, Vajyanti Lodhi and Kamal Lodhi. One of the deceased was yet to be identified. The police were trying to establish his identity.

The driver of the tanker and the cleaner fled from the spot. The Motinagar police have registered the case under Sections 294, 279, 337, 304-A of the Indian Penal Code.
